Doublehorse! CD release party show at Khyber 7/21/06 was a total success. There were a million people there and they all experienced fun. We thank you all.
OLD NEWS:
Well, the April 20 show at the North Star was a great success. We were really milkin' it. Now we're getting ready to swing into high gear in preparation for the release of our first "real" album, "Position Yourself For The Future." We'll be hosting a CD release party/show July 21 at the Khyber (56 S. 2nd St., Phila.) along with Mitch Fiction and other, to-be-determined special guests.
Two great shows coming up.
Details: April 1 at MOJO 13 (1706 Philadelphia Pike, Wilmington, DE) with The Teeth, Physics of Meaning, Delaware Rag. $5, show starts at 9 p.m., arrive early for Doublehorse! (we're on first).
And April 20 at THE NORTH STAR BAR (27th and Poplar, Philadelphia, PA) with Mellowdrone, Canadian Invasion and Hank's Caddilac. 9 p.m., $8, 21+.
Both shows are important, but the North Star gig is particularly special to us. The North Star is a very cool place to play, and we're grateful for the chance to headline this show. We're putting out an APB for all Doublehorse! supporters to make the scene.
Thanks, by the way, for everyone who heeded the call the last time we played there. You made us all so happy. It was unbelievable.
If you really want to be cool, request us on WSTW 93.7 FM's "Hometown Heroes" local music show. Follow the link on www.doublehorsemusic.com to try it. They've played us a few times on there. While you're on our website, click on the "Doublehorse! on MySpace.com" link and sign up to be MySpace buddies with the working band.

Thanks always for supporting DOUBLEHORSE! New CD out soon!
Best,
Doug / Doublehorse!
We certainly had a great time playing at the North Star last week. Maximum thanks are due to everybody who came out to hear us. They're going to bring us back, to headline a Thursday night show. So, that show (April 20) now supersedes all my past begging you to come to shows. THIS is the big one. We could really use your support. Please stop by, and tell your friends.
Greetings! There are lots of exciting things coming up in Doublehorse!-land. The most important one is our BIG SHOW, Saturday March 11 at the North Star Bar (27th and Poplar, Philadelphia) with Augustana, the Damnwells, and Tressels. Why such a big deal? Well, the North Star on a Saturday night is a pretty cool place to play, first of all. We've tried in vain to get a gig there for literally years. Secondly, Augustana and the Damnwells are supposed to be a pretty big deal. They're both on big major labels, and I'm told the Damnwells used to be Ryan Adams' backing band or something. Now, I'm going to come right out and say it: I don't really know what these bands are like. Lately I've been listening almost exclusively to the Delmore Brothers and Charlie Patton, and I feel like some kind of super-hip master of modern music because I recognized a Sonic Youth song when I heard it at a card game last week and I like the new single from Eminem and Nate Dogg. That is to say, I'm no expert on present-day bands. But the reason we were offered a slot on this HOT TICKET of a show is because we kicked so much ass at the Khyber recently! The booking people heard what a great crowd of super-fans we brought to that show, so they figure we are worthy of playing with Ryan Adams' former backing band on a Saturday night. So, posturing aside, this is our BIG CHANCE, the most IMPORTANT SHOW EVER, and we really need you to come out and see us. This time we mean it. You won't just be doing us a favor, by the way. We're playing great music these days. We've got new tunes, freshly-silkscreened uniforms, the lovely and talented Safula Lewis, and plenty of chutzpah and va-va-voom, as always. Indie/hipster "cred" is guaranteed, yet Doublehorse! also has "chops" and "soul." Show up early, wear your Doublehorse! t-shirt and tell the bartender that "Big Heat" sent ya. Also: we're nearly finished our big album, tentatively-entitled "Position Yourself For The Future." It's going to be a class act from top to bottom, no home demo amateurism or self-indulgent ballads about my wife. Songs to be included are: Sleepin' In, Where's My Whiskey, Anna, (Who Been) Drivin', Wrestler's Prayer, Ferris Wheels, Soul Song II/Delta Ray and Train Robber. We'll let you know when it's ready. Another thing: please look us up on myspace.com and sign up to be our friends. OK, that's enough! Too much! Leave me alone! Thanks, Doug / Doublehorse!
